PRP (Platelet-Rich Plasma) injections for hair rejuvenation are a popular and minimally invasive treatment option for individuals experiencing hair loss or thinning hair. This procedure aims to stimulate hair growth, strengthen existing hair, and improve overall hair quality.

The process begins with a small amount of the patient's blood being drawn, typically from their arm.  The drawn blood is then processed in a centrifuge machine, which separates the platelet-rich plasma (PRP) from the rest of the blood components. The resulting PRP is a concentrated solution rich in platelets and growth factors. A topical numbing cream is applied to the scalp to minimise discomfort during the injections.Using a fine needle, the PRP is injected directly into the targeted areas of the scalp where hair loss or thinning is most prominent. The injections are usually spaced across the treatment area to ensure even distribution.

The growth factors and bioactive molecules in PRP stimulate the hair follicles.

Over time, the effects of PRP injections can lead to thicker, stronger, and healthier hair strands. This can result in an improvement in hair density and overall hair quality.

PRP injections are often administered in a series of treatments, typically spaced a few weeks apart. Maintenance sessions may be recommended to sustain the results.

WHY DOES PLATELET COUNT MATTER?

At SKIN REJUVENATION, we pride ourself in ensuring you receive optimal results, that's why we ensure you have a personalised consult prior to beginning any treatment to make sure you are best suited for this procedure.

We use high quality EMCYTE kits, which provides the most powerful concentration of deliverable regenerative cells, without the deleterious contaminants found in most PRP products.  The system exceeds the clinical requirement for effective PRP, providing between 7 and 10 billion platelets in a treatment sample.

The platelet count is a critical factor in PRP therapy because it directly affects the concentration of growth factors in the PRP solution. The appropriate platelet count can enhance the effectiveness of the treatment while ensuring safety and consistent results. Healthcare professionals carefully consider the platelet count when preparing PRP to optimise its regenerative and healing properties for various medical and cosmetic applications.
